Shaw Communications

Team Lead, Design

2012-2014

As design team lead at Shaw Media, I played a key role in managing and mentoring a team of 10 designers, as well as driving the overall direction and quality of the design work across two conventional broadcast brands, 18 specialty network brands and other Shaw Media projects. I had the opportunity to learn UsabilityTesting from Steve Krug, and help bring UX initiatives to the organization.

Art Director & Design Lead Food Network Canada

2012-2014

The launch of the all-new Food Network Canada website was an opportunity to work with a large, cross-functional team and lean into new methodologies, such as Agile. In the year following the redesign, the site boasted tens of thousands of pages and attracted 54 million page views from 12.5 million unique visitors. After re-working and relaunching the "Recipes" vertical, foodnetwork.ca saw a 33% increase in traffic, just in time for dinner.

Content Producer Food Network Canada and HGTV Canada

2010 -2014

I profiled restaurants in Athens, Toronto, Montreal, Barcelona. Had Food Network Celebrities demo recipes to me (or judge my recipes), attended numerous viewing parties with Top Chef Canada & Chopped Canada contestants, profiled store openings and new restaurants, enjoyed coffee and food pairings and embarrassed myself in front of Martha Stewart. My Limited series “Real People Living in Condos” on HGTV.ca documented the trials of new home-ownership, and featured condo-specific content.

Art Director Lifestyle Brands

2010-2012

Once Canwest was acquired by Shaw Media, the digital team set to work on redesigning and refreshing a number of websites associated with the television networks. I had the opportunity to redesign HGTV.ca and provide a refresh to Slice.ca.
